Introduction:
The Department of English, since inception, is one of the premier Departments of the College contributing the best it could for the overall development of the College. It runs Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses on grant-in-aid basis. It strives to empower students by, cultivating among them sound literary tastes and linguistic excellences, as also building among them an ability and confidence to communicate in English. It has a well-equipped Language Laboratory with 10 advanced PCs, 01 Smart Board and LCD projector with sound system and internet facility. The Department successfully runs the University approved Certificate Course in Communication Skills in English and recently the University has recognized the Department as Research Centre in English for Ph.D. and M.Phil. The Department enjoys legacy of generating distinguished alumni who have always been giving back their best to the Department and the College.

  1. • To help students develop literary and linguistic competencies through teaching of English language and literature.

  2. • To train students in the appreciation of literary texts to further understand their historical, philosophical, social, cultural and global contexts.

  3. • To help students develop, reasonable understanding of major schools of language, literary criticism, and research aptitude, especially among post-graduate students.

  4. • To improve confidence level of the students, especially tribal, by organising skill oriented events to meet competitive spirit of global market.
