Historical Journey of Nandurbar Taluka Vidhayak Samiti

  • • Nandurbar, situated at the confluence of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, is a tribal District with a rich historical and cultural background. The region was historically known as Rasika and Nandanagri, named after its ruler, King Nandaraja. Over the years, Nandurbar has witnessed various shifts in power due to its strategic location between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
  • • The establishment of Nandurbar Taluka Vidhayak Samiti in 1961 marked a significant milestone in the District's educational development. Late Shri. Gajamal Tulshiram Patil, founder chairman and former MLA, along with late Shri G.S. Marathe and Shri B.K. Raghuwanshi, former chairman and former MLC, played instrumental roles in its formation.
  • • In the same year of its establishment, the Samiti inaugurated its first residential boarding school with a mere 10 tribal students, naming it after the renowned former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Late Shri Yashwantrao Chavan. The following year, the Samiti initiated Yashwant High School to cater to the increasing population of Nandurbar town and its growing student community.
  • • Recognizing the demand for higher education, the Samiti established the first Senior College in Nandurbar town in 1964. This College aimed to meet the educational aspirations of the students and the societal needs of the region.

The institution's primary objective is to uplift rural and tribal families and empower them with new hopes and aspirations.
